and studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.
Kanako Hirota entered the Bachelor's Programme in Conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in March 2024.
While majoring in orchestral conducting and correpetition in music theatre, she also serves as a student assistant for correpetition in choral conducting at the same university.
She previously entered the Undergraduate Program in Conducting at the Tokyo College of Music as a scholarship student, and earned her bachelor's degree in 2022.
She won the 3rd Prize at the 2nd edition of the Italian Conducting Competition “Alceo Galliera” 2023 in Bordighera, Italy.
She won the 4th Place at the 7th edition of the Bucharest International Conducting Competition 2025 in Bucharest, Romania.
She won BMI Mention at the 4th edition of the BMI International Conducting Competition 2022 in Bucharest, Romania.
She was selected as one of 6 semi-finalists out of 634 applicants at the 2nd edition of the Lake Como International Conducting Competition 2022 in Bellano, Italy.
She was invited to the final audition as one of 10 candidates for the Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy in Tokyo vol.4 “Attila” 2024 in Tokyo, Japan.
She was selected as one of 10 candidates out of more than 120 applicants for the Mills Williams Junior Fellowship in Conducting auditions at the Royal Northern College of Music 2024 in Manchester, the UK.
She was a semi-finalist at the 2nd edition of the National Radio Television of Albania “NICOLA ZORAQI” Conducting Competition 2025 in Tirana, Albania.
She was a semi-finalist at the 2nd edition of the Felix Mendelssohn International Conducting Competition 2024 in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic.
She served as assistant conductor for a performance of Turandot at the 26th Miyazaki international music festival 2021.
She played the celesta in the orchestra at the 21st music festival Argerich's meeting point in Beppu 2019.
She appeared as a pianist at the Drammen Arts Festival 2024.
She participated in masterclasses with Jorma Panula, Sian Edwards, Mark Heron, Kazuki Yamada, Boris Belkin, and Tsugio Tokunaga.
She is currently studying orchestral conducting under Marc Piollet, and previously studied orchestral conducting under Junichi Hirokami, Toshifumi Tashiro, Nobutaka Masui, Akihito Mihara, and Toshihiro Yonezu.
She is studying correpetition in music theatre under Gunter Fruhmann.
Born in Toyama, Japan in 1999. She began learning piano at the age of seven.
